Women interested in kinky sex and have a vanilla husband, this is the book for you. Ms. Dalton is one of the best writers when it comes to an accurate portrayal of the BDSM lifestyle. In a roll of dice, I can totally relate to this book.Jenny and Mike have been married for a long time. While they still love each other dearly, sex is sort of blah. Jenny's interest in sex is roused when she reads a kinky book in her book club.Jenny wants to explore the lifestyle and lucky for her, one of the women in the book club lives it. Excited, she drags her reluctant husband, Mike, to a munch. The munch is more eye opening than Mike expected. Specifically, Mike encounters a person whom he works with and it goes a bit downhill from there. As one of the main moderators for the largest BDSM group on Goodreads, this story is all too familiar to me. Ms. Dalton does an excellent job of capturing the desires of a woman wanting more in her sex life and not sure how to explain this to her husband. Jenny's journey into kink is tentative. The method she introduces BDSM to her husband is very similar to how I recommend for newbies. What Ms. Dalton adds is the husband's perspective. For women who are wishing their husbands would be able to dive into the deep end of kink as masterful dominants, this book is a must read. This will give a wife's insight into her husband's reluctance.Mike is a man most can relate to, even my husband. He is a man who is confident at work and loves his wife. He is also raised to never hit a woman. Mike's personal history with an abused mother makes him even more wary of BDSM when it comes to impact play. As a woman, it is very hard to understand why a man can't use a flogger, paddle or cane to hit a woman when she wants it. Seeing it from Mike's point of view, I finally understand even if I don't agree with it.On top of Mike's hesitation with hurting his wife, he is afraid of disappointing her. How could he disappoint? By not being a perfect male dominant in the BDSM romance stories. This is the key for women who want a sexual dominant husband to understand. With how first world Western society currently raise boys to men, being sexually aggressive is a no-no. To expect men to be both sensitive to a woman's needs and be physically dominant, it's a lot to ask for. Just as many women mistakenly think they understand what it means to be a submissive by reading erotic fiction. The reality of a D/s relationship with its ups and downs is perfectly captured in this story. Ms. Dalton does a great job of showing how Jenny pushes too hard, which makes Mike take a few steps back away from BDSM. Mike's concern with how this lifestyle is wrong is changed by being around everyday people, some of them his friends. This is another key which helps bring Jenny and Mike closer to the D/s dynamic Jenny yearns to experience. Ms. Dalton peppers this story with helpful gems of knowledge I hope readers pick up. "Remember that if you aren't having fun with it, you're doing it wrong." (pg. 54)I can't emphasize this enough. There is no one true way. Every relationship is different and what is fun for one may not be fun for another. This point is to illustrate a couple's need to both enjoy and have fun; otherwise, why would they continue? Mike and Jenny experiment and it's so good to see how they find their rhythm.Lastly, I'm wondering if Ms. Dalton may know who I am or perhaps this is more common than I thought. I'm glad I'm not the only one who shares an Amazon account with my husband. My husband does do what Mike did. "They [Mike and Jenny] shared an Amazon account, so it'd be easy for him to pull Jenny's books up on his phone or tablet app without even having to ask her about them. (pg. 54)Why is this important? Because a husband can learn a lot about what his wife's desires are by reading through the books she loves to read. He'll be able to pick up what arouses her and then they can discuss and come up with scenes which work for them. This is a great suggestion in the book without coming across as a teaching lesson or a lecture. There are many little tidbits in this story which I can easily relate to, which makes this book more meaningful to me. Between the D&D gamers, vanilla spice husband and reference to GoodReads groups, I'm totally engrossed and engaged. This book is highly recommended as a Gateway to BDSM book. Another winner from Ms. Dalton.

A Roll of the Dice (Suncoast Society, #9) by Tymber Dalton was a simple, nice book about a empty nest couple coming to terms with their life, love for each other, and the wife’s wish for more sexually. As with many situations these days (real and fictional) – the quest for more sexual fulfillment was stimulated by reading BDSM themed books in our heroines weekly book club. The situations in the various book club selections spoke to a need, desire, and curiosity that Jenny wanted to explore with her husband. We get to glimpse into the process that Mike and Jenny go through, from their first conversation, their surprise that people in the lifestyle look and act just like “normal” people, and that friends and co-workers are already in the lifestyle – people they would never suspect of living out those needs and desires.Mike has pre-conceived ideas that BDSM is just a form of abuse, and has difficulty embracing the concept that it isn’t, that it is consensual, and something his wife really wants. After some time spent exploring the lifestyle, and guidance from Tony, reading Shayla’s articles, and exploring his wife’s books with her, he slowly comes to terms with his beliefs, and attempts to become the partner his wife is seeking. This is a realistic look at what a newbie may actually go through emotionally and physically on the journey into embracing the lifestyle. The book was short, and didn’t have the sexual kink, or the emotional tug that many of Tymber’s books have, in fact it almost felt like a well written BDSM 101 primer. For me it was a 4 star read just because it was enjoyable and I didn’t have to get all tied up in the characters and their emotions

4.5 starsTymber Dalton creates amazingly realistic characters in her Suncoast Society series. No doubt, A Roll of the Dice will resonate with many readers of bdsm romance who are drawn with great curiosity to the lifestyle but who have difficulty sharing that interest with their significant other/partner. I'll bet that Ms. Dalton gets some really interesting fan mail...Jenny and Mike are middle aged parents adjusting to their newly empty nest with their son attending college. Jenny is an avid reader of bdsm erotica and feels attracted to the lifestyle but is hesitant to tell Mike about her desires. When Jenny broaches the subject of bdsm, Mike is troubled and alarmed. Because of his family history with an abusive father, Mike is averse to the thought of beating his wife (his uninitiated perception of bdsm). They embark on a journey to see whether they can meet one another's needs in their new stage of life or whether their differences will tear them apart...I love this series. Although this isn't my favorite, A Roll of the Dice is another winner in the Suncoast saga, and I am recommending to those who enjoy realistic bdsm romance.

Absolutely freaking awesome! Jenny and Mike have a great marriage. But she needs one more thing that Mike might not be able to give. The road these two take is bumpy and for me very familiar. Ms. Dalton writes stories that are so lifelike and true to real life. Thank you.

I was recommended this book after ready The Denim Dom and I devoured this book in two days. This book is exactly what I was looking for. This story is about Mike and Jenny. They have been married for 25 years and have a kid that is off to college. What to do now that you have the house to yourselves. Well if you are in a book club like Jenny, you want to try out some of the things you read about. What I loved about this story is that the couple is told to go at your own pace, do what feels right for you and communicate to each other. That is the most important part. If you are new to the lifestyle this is definitely the book to read to help answer some of your questions. I like that Mike and Jenny are told to do research such as read articles and go to munches. All very helpful tools in exploring. Go out and buy your copy. Awesome job Tymber.

Tymber Dalton has written another wonderful addition to her Suncoast Society series. This story is one that I could relate to on a personal level. Michael and Jenny are embarking on a journey after being married for 25 years that will help them to enhance their marriage if they will allow it to. I have never been disappointed by this author!

I actually enjoyed this book more than I first thought. I liked the idea that the couple were middle aged, like myself. That they didn't have perfect fit bodies, like myself. They were so cute together although at times in the beginning of the book Mike seemed more like an ass about even trying to add a little kink or BDSM in their marriage. Jenny finds herself wanting to be controlled after always being the one in control around the house. Now that they have an empty nest she want to try to spice up their sex life. I wish I had an empty next but no my 22 and her 22 boyfriend still live with me and never go out. It sucks at times because we do dapple a bit in both kink and BDSM. Anyways back to the book, Mike finally becomes a little more open minded and starts to actually like some aspects of BDSM. Jenny is finally getting her desires meet and they live happily ever after. Overall it was a good read, little slow to start but watching this couple go through this makes it real. I loved the fact that is was an older couple and not some hot buff guy and model perfect girl.

Amazing!! I am absolutely in love with this series. I love the fact that many of the characters from Tymber's other books in this series make appearances throughout. This one is so easy to relate to because I think that most couples feel the way Jenny and Mike feel at some point in their lives. I love the raw emotion that she creates and the excitement the characters build throughout the story. Tymber mixes a good amount of humor, angst, love and sexiness to make it so you can't stop reading until you finish. Which sometimes is in one evening. I can't wait to read more from this amazing series and I hope she doesn't have plans to end it anytime soon!

A Lovely StoryWhat a wonderful way to introduce the Lifestyle. When a couple's only child leaves for college, a mother needs to find what to do. A husband of twenty-five years wonders why his precious wife is sad. When she finally tells him what she needs, all manner of issues surface and miscommunication abound. Can they figure it out or is their marriage in trouble. Tymber Dalton writes a loving and tender story of a couple's journey of rediscovery. I couldn't put it down.

I love how this story portrayed the real struggle of an established couple who are entering a new phase of life. Jenny feels she'd like to try something new and Mike is fearful that it is more than he is comfortable with and what it will mean for them as a couple. We see their internal struggle as well as their discussions with each other and their friends. We also see the learning process as they figure out how to balance each other's needs and comfort levels.

This book should be subtitled BDSM 101. if you want to get your hubby interested in BDSM because you've been reading about it in other books this is the book for you and him to read together. Tymber Dalton stories are rooted in real life because she lives the life. Her stories are well written with great plots. You feel that you know these people, her characters, they feel familiar somehow like people from your neighborhood.

I really loved this book. One of my favorite in the series. I was wiping away tears 20 pages in about Mikey Jr going to college. Then I was laughing out loud a few chapters later at Mike Sr and his inner dialog. His character was written so well. He was authentic and hysterical. In this journey, there were so many awkward moments that were written really well. Loved it.

Wonderful Read OMG this was an awesome read and especially if you've been married for awhile. Jenny needs to have a bit of kink and really wants her husband to be the Dom she needs - after their son leaves for college can they make the changes needed to keep their relationship gping.

This was not my favorite, but I did enjoy it. First I love Tymber's stories. You know you are getting an actual protrayal of BDSM lifestyle. I had a hard time getting into this one at first because the story seemed too much like a BDSM 101 class. It wasn't until both the main characters had started talking and doing that I became invested.

Another great Suncoast book. Loved the older characters. Love that the characters in this series are so realistic with normal problems and real life situations. I like how the older characters pop up in each book. Will be waiting for the next one.

I really liked this book in the series. Probably because I related to it so well. I felt a close connection to the couple. It was a little too short but other than that I really liked it.

This was a great book. It highlighted that with communication and education, everyone who needs a little extra in the bedroom and in their lives past being ‘nilla, can become successful and happy.
