This is the third book in the Regency Refuge Series. Each book including His Saving Grace and Jackal, are solid enough and with detailed information to read as a standalone but to fully grasp these wonderfully spun tales, I would recommend reading all three in order. The book has so many elements, mystery, suspense, espionage, betrayal, loyalty, forgiveness, redemption and love. Queen had to become a strong woman very early in life after her parents are arrested, tried and executed, after being accused of betraying the Crown. Twelve years old and put into service by the war department in the Queen's court. Her life and virtue both at risk. Owen Loring had an uncanny sense with numbers, ledgers and documents. He had known he wanted to be of service to his government. Together, Owen and Queen are placed in numerous situations of cat and mouse, not knowing for sure of whom they could trust and who foe. This story keeps the pages turning, the intrigue and mystery never get boring. It is a constant state of trying to figure out who done it, who is the guilty parties, why the deceit and how to survive while being of service to the Crown. We met other characters from previous books, who play key roles in this story too. The story also shares that forgiveness and love can be found.

QUEENThis is my kind of story, espionage, intrigue, mystery and romance, who would not like a story that had all theses elements. I really enjoyed reading it, so curl up with a cup of Joe and your favorite blanket and allow yourself to be taken to another time.I received a free copy of this book for my honest review.

I loved this Regency novel and the history in this book. The Regency Refuge series was really enjoyable, as well as making me laugh several times. I loved how Isabel had taken hardship & transformed it into hope. This captivating book has great themes about unforgiveness, allowing hurt to turn into bitterness & hatred, guilt (bad guilt vs. good guilt), the inability to forgive ourselves, and taking hardship & transforming it into hope. I loved the horse’s name Despiadado, whose name was a reminder not to become ruthless & merciless, but to be merciful. This is a great series! Full of History, Suspense, Mystery, & Romance!

Heather Gray has written another winner. Gray's storytelling is smooth and flawless and her voice is consistent. As a reader, I am all about story. I want to investigate the hearts and minds of the characters in the tale I'm reading. Gray brings the characters in her stories to life so vividly, that I actually forget I'm reading as the story unfolds in living-color before my eyes. "Queen" is book number three in Gray's Regency Refuge Series. It reads well as a stand alone, but the story is definitely enhanced by having read the previous books in the series. "Queen" continues Owen's storyline and introduces us to Isabel, a character previously known only by the code name, Queen. One of Gray's special talents as a writer is whetting the appetite of her reader for the next story. Queen's tale begins and ends neatly within the pages of this novel, but it includes new insights into characters that starred in the two previous Regency Refuge novels, and expertly sets up the next book in the series. In fact, if I had any way of getting my hands on it, I'd be reading the next novel in the series rather than typing this review. Since the new book isn't out yet, I guess I'll just have to content myself with re-reading the other books in the series. Book One: His Saving Grace; Book Two: Jackal.

If you have read the previous books in the Regency Refuge series by Heather Gray, then you MUST pick up Queen. If you haven't read the previous books, you can still read and enjoy Queen. It's a marvelous Regency period mystery/suspense with a nice dose of romance thrown in.Queen tells the story of a young woman, at the tender age of twelve, who was forced to work undercover for the War Department following her parents' execution for treason. Twelve years later, she and Owen Loring cross paths working on the same investigation. A childhood romance is rekindled and a nearly unstoppable team is formed.Filled with an eclectic group of characters (not to mention the alternate personas the spies take on during their investigation) this book takes you on an invigorating ride as new clues are discovered and followed up on and new information is found in unlikely places. The return of Jackal and Mrs. Burnham was the icing on the cake, for me.FYI~ clean read, no scenes more intimate than kissing, very mild language.Honest Disclosure~ review copy received for review

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This was both my first book from this author and the first book in the series. I'm not sure if I would have gained anything by reading the other two first or not so I'm solely going on my impression of this particular story. This book was a definite change from what I had been reading previously. The intrigue was pretty apparent from the beginning, if you love a good espionage story you'll probably enjoy this one. Set in 1800s England, the story is a definitely one to keep you waiting to see when all the secrets are revealed. I think my favorite part of the story was the fact that both the hero and the heroine are strong characters. This doesn't change from beginning to end. Strong themes of faith and forgiveness bolster the love story that blooms even among the suspenseful page turner.

Hello to Heather Gray, where has this book been all my life?!? I loved this story so much! It had a life of its own and the story was so engaging. From one page to the next, I could never be sure what was going to happen or what new secret or tidbit would be revealed. Queen and Owen were jump off the page characters with intriguing personalities! This book consumed my thoughts and I stayed up until the wee hours to finish it. Gray weaves a regency tale like no other! Romance, cloak and dagger, secret agents, and mystery....I couldn't get enough of it! Pick this book up, read it, you will not be sorry! Side note: I have not read the first two books in the series and I found this completely fine as a stand alone novel.Rating: Clean romanceI received a copy of this book for free, all thoughts and opinions are expressly my own.

When I started this book I was very confused.I didn't understand what was happening but as I was gifted this book for a true and honest review I continued. Boy am I glad I did! This story is perfect for the reader who likes suspense and intrigue set in Recency times. Boy Mets girl when they were very young. Circumstances took the girl away from him. Ten years later they are reunited while working a case for the English government. I won't discuss the case as you will enjoy following the twists and turns and finding if the guilty are punished. There are two books before this one in the series and I plan to buy those.

Intrigue At It's Best!!Wow...hold on to your hat and be prepared for a thrilling ride of intrigue and suspense! Heather Gray is a master story writer and has a gift for bringing her characters to life. You will certainly not be bored reading this one! Both hero and heroine are strong characters in their own right and each have secrets they hesitate to reveal. Amidst intrigue, suspense, treason & duplicity there is also forgiveness, romance and faith. This is a high-paced, page turner that is difficult to put down. I anxiously await the next book in this series!

Mystery, Intrigue, lords, spies, traitors are part of this exciting novel set in the early 1800's in England. This book is a page turner. I had a hard time putting it down. Each of the books in this series get better and better. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. One of the themes in this story is the power of forgiveness. I love the Spiritual thread running through this. I don't want to give away any spoilers so will not tell the story, but is worth reading this book.
