I don't know how Susan Stoker keeps these amazing books coming, but she does. After each one I say "That's my favorite!" Well, this has to be my favorite so far! Her plots always have substance and suck you in. I didn't want to put the book down AT ALL! Sleep? Ha! Not when a new SS book comes out!JFB is all about Hayden and Boone. I was so happy to see that the hero was a mature male dealing with a serious issue that many people don't think about...male domestic violence. Susan wrote the story eloquently and showed this type of abuse from a different angle. Hayden is the officer who comes to Boone's home since his ex-girlfriend is PSYCHO!!! Like totally cukoo! Poor Boone! What that poor man went through and stuck to his convictions made me root for him even more!!The heroine, Hayden, is a total kicka$$. She's a Deputy and doesn't take crap from anyone. She is considered one of the boys and not until you get a bit into the story do you really get what that means. Her story, which is interwoven into Boone's, is just as heartbreaking. I was so happy that Hayden found Boone and Boone found Hayden. The story was not just all lovey dovey, but had substance. You will not regret reading this book and hey, if you love it as much as I do, she had a ton of other AMAZING books for you to read!

For those that know me Contemporary Romance is not my top pick in genres to read, but I do pick them up every now and then. I have to say this is my favorite from Ms. Stoker that I’ve read so far. Hayden is a Deputy Sheriff. Tuff, strong, and an independent women who is more like one of the guys then a women, but she still is feminine. Boone is a cowboy, takes great care of his ranch, those that work for him, and has a strong moral code of not hitting a women for any reason. Hayden and Boone were an interesting couple to fall in love with. Hayden meets Boone when she’s called out to his place for domestic violence, but he’s the victim although it takes her showing up to show the others that that is the case. Yes, men can be abused too. The domestic violence and a female police offer just added to the story. There was a balance; between their pasts, what they do now, and what is happening around them. Hayden showed her femininity and Boone his masculinity. Their roles didn’t define them anymore then their gender. I liked this. Liked the role-reversal. Liked the story. Liked how everything played together and made this couple one of my favorites to enjoy. It was sweet and adorable. Note: Can be read as a stand alone. Books in this series do not have to be read in order. Rated: 4 Stars*Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy provided by Susan Stoker via RockStarLit with the sole purpose of an honest review. All thoughts, comments and ratings are my own.

Although these books are nowhere near as steamy as I like, I can't help but being drawn to these stories. Maybe it's the devoted heroes, or the action in the storyline. I can't put my finger on it. I like that the hero is devoted and looks out for his heroine. I was a little apprehensive of this book because the heroine was the actual public servant (sheriffs deputy) and I was afraid she would be too alpha. Although she wasn't a "girly girl" Boone did bring out a more feminine side to her. I also was disappointed that the "epilogue" wasn't really an epilogue but again just a setup to the next story. To ME, a good epilogue gives us a glimpse into their future -marriage, babies etc. We had none of that unfortunately.

Wow, what a spin on her normal stories. The cop was female and the abused was a man. I loved it!! So different, but so good.

Originally posted at Smexybooks- Stoker’s Badge of Honor series is an integrated series though each book can be read comfortably as a standalone. These strong, sexy, modernized romance suspenses follow the lives and loves of hard-working Texas law enforcement and emergency personnel. A solid storyline, engaging dialogue, and some smoking hot love scenes zip you right along as we watch two strong, independent, slightly stubborn people fall head over heels in love. This is my first time reading Susan Stoker and I was impressed on how smoothly this story was reads. The balance between this couple’s personal and professional lives blends seamlessly with the conflicts presented. Stoker does a wonderful job of divulging into the various stereotypes found in male dominated professions and the struggles women deal with trying to balance of being taken seriously while trying to maintain their femininity. She also addresses domestic violence and the misconception that only women can be victims.Told from dual points of view, though Hayden’s is dominant, we get an intimate ringside seat into her emotions and thoughts on how she perceives herself as a deputy and a woman; something she is having a hard time reconciling. She has spent her whole life proving to her father and her coworkers that she is more than able to hold her in a male dominated field. She’s worked hard to gain her co-workers respect and trust. But always being treated as one of the guys has caused her to feel insecure about her femininity. Watching her friends find love doesn’t help. She’s ready for the next stage of her life but unable to overcome the role she’s been placed in.Meeting Boone Hatcher helps her to not only get in touch with her more feminine side but to also not feel guilty for it. Hayden meets this deliciously sexy cowboy on a routine call. He is being falsely accused of abuse though it turns out he is the victim. Hayden deduces that and arrests his ex girlfriend. Tangible chemistry is felt from the beginning though this couple takes their time getting to know one another, adding to the sexual tension. There is a sense of awkwardness in the beginning, especially on Hayden’s end. It makes sense as we see she is entering into uncharted territory though there were moments her discomfort made me uncomfortable. It was refreshing to see that Stoker doesn’t try to change Hayden or Boone as their relationship progresses. Two alphas making a go at it. Hayden doesn’t suddenly become flirty, coy, or feel the need to subdue her personality in order to be more appealing. Boone doesn’t sacrifice appeal or his masculinity because of Hayden’s strength. He is attracted to the beautiful, sensual, strong woman she is and is often confused by no one else’s ability to see that.A minor cast of secondary characters are used to help push the story forward and give us more insight into Hayden and Boone. The suspense subplot pops in and out remind us that Boone’s ex girlfriend hasn’t given up though I do wish it had commanded a stronger presence. The end is a climatic finish that resolves the main conflict and assures us Hayden has finally found her happiness. We are also given a small epilogue that clues us into the next hero and heroine. There were a few issues that seemed overly exaggerated in order to further hype up the storyline. Hayden’s parents for one. I was also a little shocked that Boone’s ex girlfriend was able to sneak in and out under the radar with little to no problem.Regardless, Justice for Boone is a fast sexy read that offers a sweet romance while handling some intriguing subject matter with confidence.Grade: C+

Another great story. Deputy Hayden is used to be seen as one of the guys and slowly starting to realize that she wants something like her other friends she wants to be loved. Coming to a domestic violence scene she does her job asking questions and getting the basics on the situation. Hayden isn't some rookie she knows her stuff and she knows that Boone Hatcher didn't abuse his girlfriend she is just an ex who couldn't grasp of him ending their relationship. For some reason, Hayden feels protective of him even though he could hold his own he just refuses to fight back. Hayden knows how crazy things will get if Boone doesn't do anything he will be hurt in the end. Slowly Boone and Hayden get close together and start to build a relationship. While on seeing each other Boones ex-start to make their lives hell but Boone and Hayden work hard to work against her. I love that it was a different story where we usually see the one being abused is the women but this was a great way to show men could be the one being abused it the same situation.

Reading a Susan Stoker novel is like sitting at a slot machine where you've just hit a jackpot ~ the adrenaline rush is fierce and wonderful! The Badge of Honor series is an amazing collection of stand-alone books, with characters that will keep you engrossed in their lives, as if they were part of your family.Justice for Boone is no exception ~ what's not to love about a tough cowboy with a 6'3” frame showing his vulnerabilities to a very strong, independent sheriff's deputy.Meeting for the first time, when under rather aggravating and embarrassing conditions, Hayden is called to Boone's ranch after he is attacked by a woman he had broken up with. Dana, in a jealous frenzy, had injured herself in the hopes that Boone would be charged. And, there's nothing she wants more now than to ruin his life. But, surprisingly, Hayden in her astute and methodical way, sizes up the situation and realizes what has happened. Forcing Dana's hand to show her true colors, she is whisked away by the deputies and taken to jail. The victims of domestic violence are generally women, but men are abused as well, as this story is sensitively told.Boone and Hayden's attraction grows from this encounter. Working in a male dominated field, Hayden sees herself as “one of the guys”. Boone, though, recognizes in her soul, a woman yearning to find her feminine self. I love the dichotomy she has created within these extraordinary people and seeing characters from previous books, is just icing on the cake.Ms. Stoker combines hilarity, depth and passion in a beautifully fluid way and when I reach the last page, all I want to do is go back to the beginning and read it again! Bravo!!!!!

I think what struck me about this one was how lonely Hayden was. Sure she had a great career, great friends, but they were mostly men who treated her like one of the guys and she had a secret girlie side that she hides, even from herself. Her longing and slight jealousy of friends that have found "the one" nailed how lonely she was.The situation where Hayden first met Boone showed what a great cop she is. Instead of going with what things looked like, like her fellow deputies were going to do, she took the time to talk to both parties and easily figured out who the wronged party was. I was glad that Boone and Hayden both acted on their attraction to each other. Better was that they took their relationship slowly, becoming friends first. I loved how Boone saw Hayden as a woman first, then the cop, something her friends never did see. The quiet way that Boone showed Hayden he cared for her was great, especially the time he had to explain things to her.Hayden's family was crazy and quite frankly she needs to let go of them as they are too toxic. But Boone seemed to handle them easily, helping combat the unease that Hayden had from being around them. The drama at the end happened about how I thought it would. I did hate that Boone stepped between to help. This one time he should have remembered that Hayden was a cop and had more training to deal with situations like this.

This sixth book in the series is now my favorite...I absolutely love Boone and Hayden together. Ms Stoker has completely leaped over the high bar she continually sets for herself in her stories by creating these two characters who are so perfect together. Her method of storytelling continually brings out the depth of the characters whether it's with humor as she did with the banter between Boone and Hayden: “Great. So? Do you want to grab a bite to eat with me? Are you hungry?” She wanted to. Oh, how she wanted to. “I need to change.” “No problem. Do you need to go home?” “No, I’ve got clothes here.” She stood there staring at Boone, neither of them saying anything for a moment. Boone smiled in amusement. “Okay. Do you need help?” Hayden shook her head ruefully. “No, sorry. I’ll just…I’ll just go and change and meet you back here?”Or if it's with the seriousness of the disabilities of some of the characters...bringing awareness to the lives of those facing daily challenges. The tension Ms Stoker is able to create within the stories seriously grabs you early on and doesn't let go...I was anxiously waiting for the other shoe to drop with Dana throughout the book. It's always wonderful to see past characters pop back up in the current story...can I just say I still find Mackenzie fascinatingly hilarious! I look forward to the next book in the serious with Crash and Adeline's story. This book was provided by the author for my honest review.

***ARC Provided via Rock Star PR***Hayden and Boone were interesting, and I enjoyed the role-reversal that was at work in this book.Hayden is a female police office, Boone is a cowboy who we meet when there is a domestic violence call at his home...but he is the victim, although it takes him a minute to see it that way. This could easily have turned into a cliche, with the author trying to preach that women can be police officers and that men can in fact be domestic violence victims..and while there were elements of this in the story, what I loved was that they were not THE story. Rather they were a factor in the story. They were both parts of who they each were as a person. And there was a balance, Hayden was allowed to be feminine, Boone allowed to be masculine. Their roles did not define them any more than their gender did...I really liked that.I didn't mean this review to be all about the gender roles of the book...but I found it refreshing. It was also well written, well paced and had characters, both main and supporting, that I was able to relate to and found interesting.I recommend this book.

OMG this was such a great book. The chemistry between Hayden and Boone is very explosive. When Boone Hatcher's ex girlfriend calls the cops, he never expected a female officer to respond. When Sherrif Hayden Yates is called to a domestic dispute, she never expected to find a sexy cowboy being acused of hitting a women. Things are not always what they seem, or are they? . If you love strong independent females and sexy domineering cowboys, you will love this book.

Loved how Susan showed a male abuse victim it's not very common but happens. I remember watching a experiment about the percentage of people stepping in and when it was a male victim was very low. So I really loved how she showed that. This has to be my favorite!

Lots of girls go naturally through a tom boy stage, often to spend time with an older brother or they just get on better with boys than girls. Others are very much girly girls, then you get those in the middle that like a mix of both. For Hayden form what I picked up in previous books I felt there was an underlying girly girl needing a chance to get out, it was buried deep and hadn't been allowed to come out up to now. She is seen as very much one of the guys within the groups of various law enforcement and fire service that she works and mixes with. This is her story and gosh! I really wanted to hug her, I hated her parents and how they always treated her and their expectations of her. I know there were reasons but honestly be pleased your child is healthy and has grown up, trained and is working in such a fantastic job.For Boone he grew up watching someone close be abused for years and he hated that nobody did anything to stop it, he swore he would never raise his hand to a women no matter what she did. Instead he is now the one being abused, this is how he comes to meet Hayden. This story is focussed on abuse, where in most stories that is the women in this it is the man. I love that Susan Stoker isn't afraid to address subjects like this in her books, that just because a man is fit, built and capable of standing up for himself means he will. There are a lot of abused men out there, they feel coming forward to complain makes then weak or people will laugh, I can understand that but its wrong. They should speak out and complain, the more that do means the more it is brought into highlight. Susan Stoker has done a fantastic job in writing this story, it is handled in a sensitive but informative way. I loved how it starts at the beginning it appears its the women being abused until Hayden steps in, how she handles it is astounding, the little insights and things she notices that her colleagues haven't. I can only hope their are cops out there with the same attention to details no matter how small that would make reporting abuse that bit easier for men. Another outstanding book in this series, each is different but all are awesome and I am loving each and every single one. Now onto the next.

Deputy Hayden Yates notices something wrong when she enters a Domestic Violence call. Boone Hatcher would never hit a woman ever not matter what. He was in his own home and being accused of assaulting his ex girlfriend. The ex-girlfriend that could not get it through her head that she was no longer welcome in his life. The set up was executed well. Officers that don't look deep enough were ready to cart him off right away. Only one took the time to investigate and do the job that needed to be done. I found this one harder to read than the others. I just can't stand the domestic violence angle. I know that it is very real. I know that it happens to men, women, and children. I don't like when the person stays in denial for so long that others get hurt in the process. This one followed that pattern. Stoker stills writes some of the best adult romance with real world situations. I applaud her for her work on this one.

Only women can be in an abusive relationship...well, that's what rancher Boone believes. He's tall, strong, a rancher used to hard work, and has strong morals. He's not a victim of domestic abuse...except he is. His ex-girlfriend, Dana, who refuses to accept the "ex" part, decides to show up at his house and create a scene. Yes, I said create.Thankfully, Sheriff's Deputy Hayden doesn't accept the situation as is, which would be that Boone is the abuser. She investigates, asking questions of both Boone and Dana, questions that seemingly don't make sense to what Boone is accused of, but she knows what she's doing and proves that with her observations of the situation, which results in Dana being the one arrested. While Hayden and Boone both register the attractiveness of, and the attraction to, the other, they assume this is the beginning and end of their acquaintance. Hayden warns Boone that Dana isn't finished and he disagrees. Unfortunately, Hayden is right. After another incident to which Hayden is called out for, she talks Boone into filing a restraining order. Boone, while at the station to get the police reports necessary for the paperwork, asks Hayden out and she accepts. It isn't long before both Boone and Hayden realize they have something special growing between them, something neither have ever experienced and they want to explore where it can go. Unfortunately, someone else does not want that to happen. Can Hayden convince Boone that his usual morals don't always apply, that there are extenuating circumstances at times and he needs to stand up for himself? Can Boone, who has witnessed someone he knows be abused, realize that he too is a victim of it and that he needs to stand his ground and stop treating this as a nuisance instead of the potentially dangerous situation it is? Will he change his opinion when Hayden is targeted? Will Hayden be okay? Will Boone and Hayden ever get Dana out of their lives? Will they get a chance at their HEA or will Dana get her wish and come between them?One-click now to find out all these answers and more as we learn that sometimes the situation is reversed and regardless of how strong a man is, he too can be abused. Follow along as Hayden gets a chance at a forever love with someone that sees the true her, the one that's she's kept hidden her whole life in order to fit in. Please keep in mind that this is part of a series and while each book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the books in order.**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Also, as is always the case with this author, I pre-ordered this book due to the fact that I love her work. She is one of my favorites.**

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:WOW! In this new book in Susan Stoker's Badge Of Honor series, we have an outstanding, sweet, tough female Texas Ranger who falls for a victim. But honestly I didn't see Boone as a victim. He is tough, protective, caring, sweet, kind, and just an all around gentleman and sweetheart. Hayden and Boone just made such a freaking cute couple! I fell in love with their romance and story. The fact that Miss Stoker can show you that men too, can be victims of domestic violence, was really eye opening. I assumed that if a man is a victim, he is weak and just..nerdy maybe, but after reading Justice For Boone, I realized that just because a man can be a victim doesn't make him weak. It makes him strong because it shows that he is unable to hurt a woman, even if she is violent. And yes, knowing that still doesn't make it ok, it softens me and actually made me fall hard for not just Boone, but realize that any man who falls victim to Domestic Violence, must be the kind of man any woman would be thrilled to have, because it means he would make a woman feel safe and cherished. And that is exactly the kind of man I found in Boone.I am in awe of the kind of writing Susan Stoker creates. Her books have plenty of heart-thumping suspense, sizzling romance, sweet moments, and lots of action. I was engrossed with Justice For Boone from start to finish. Fabulous book!Justice For Boone gets a SIZZLING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Its compassionate, its sweet, its caring, and absolutely beautiful. I cant wait to read the next book!

Received an ARC for an honest review. Susan Stoker’s world is just freaking awesome. Another story of true love and the journey there. Hayden has been feeling out of sorts since her friends are finding love and the feelings of loneliness are affecting her more than she likes. While on a domestic abuse call that Hayden feels is bogus she meets Boone and feels drawn to him. Boone is reeling from the allegations of his psycho ex but connects with Hayden despite feeling overwhelmed. Hayden has never been able to please her father and has spent her entire life suppressing her femininity trying to be the son he always wanted. With no female friends she struggles trying to find that feminine side she desperately wants to show Boone. How does a nurturing man and a self reliant woman work? By having Susan Stoker tell a beautiful story.

Hayden is in law enforcement and is as dependable as they come. Boone is a cowboy with a crazy ex. Sparks fly when they meet during a call Hayden responds to at Boone's ranch. I absolutely loved this book! I love that Boone can see through to the woman beneath the facade that Hayden presents to the rest of the world. He sees her need to be treasured for herself. Can Boone and Hayden survive the turmoil thrown their way and come out together on the other side? Read this book and find out! I absolutely love this author and have thoroughly enjoyed every book I have ever read by Ms. Stoker. This book is a great read and can be read as a stand alone. I suggest reading all of the Badge of Honor so you can connect with all the characters!***I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***

I was super excited when I saw that Hayden was getting her story told. I have always been curious about her. I loved every bit of this book. I know it had to been challenging to balance the situation Boone finds himself in and his character. I felt like the author did a great job of tackling a tough subject with this book. I have to admit I fell more in love with Hayden after getting a better look at her past and how it made her how she is today. Hayden is amazing and may very well be my favorite of the author's characters. I was very happy to see Hayden find her match, they balance each other perfectly. I have enjoyed the books I have read so far in this series and can't wait to see which story will be next. Susan Stroker has a great way of balancing new relationships and the challenges the couples face.

Another hit from Susan Stoker’s pen!! Sometimes an Alpha man also needs saving. Hayden is a sheriff’s deputy and while she has everyone’s respect, everyone sees her as one of the boys… deep down she longs for romance and the love that her fellow officers share with their women. Hayden meets Boone when he finds himself on the wrong side of a domestic disturbance case, lucky for him Hayden is an exceptional investigator who seeks the truth and don’t take things at face value. Both Boone and Hayden need rescuing… will Boone allow Hayden to rescue him from his deranged Ex? Will Hayden allow him to break down the barriers to her heart? A beautiful story filled with suspense, romance and humor. I thoroughly enjoyed Boone and Hayden’s story! A must read!!

Hayden is a Sheriff’s Deputy who works hard and is damn good at her job, but she is one of the guys, so most don’t see the sexy, desirable woman beneath the clothes. Boone is sex on a stick, a tall stick, but is attracting the wrong women. When one trys to set him up for abuse he finds one sexy deputy who stands up for him. But two strong, independent, stubborn people are going to buck a few heads and that is exactly what Boone and Hayden do, but once they open up they can set the sheets on fire. This was book 6 in the Badge of Honor series but could easily be read as a standalone. Was a quick good read, with a few twist and turns to keep it moving. Loved the play between Boone and Hayden and the interaction with the others as well.

I loved the bit of role reversal in this story. Hayden is definitely a great deputy, but you feel for her. She has always tried so hard to be the son her parents wanted, so much so that everyone treats her like one of the guys. Boone is an alpha male cowboy with strong beliefs in what you don't do with a lady - even if her actions call for reactions. Hayden and Boone meet when there is a domestic violence call at Boone's ranch. What follows is great. We get to see the feminine side of Hayden come out, a side that is all for Boone. I loved the way he treated her. I respected his previous decisions and was glad he could take a stand when necessary. Great addition to the series

Another winner by the fabulous Ms Stoker. I was thrilled to be invited to read this one early. This is the story of Boone the cattle ranch cowboy and Hayden the cop. Hayden is seen as one of the boys and so insecure in her femininity. Then she meets Boone while on the job investigating the harassment by his ex.Boone is the one to bring out the hidden woman and sweep her off her feet. So many feels in this book, I laughed, got teary and at one point thinking shoot the b*tch...not Hayden, you'll have to read it to see what I mean.Their journey of love was an absolute pleasure to read and OMG the ending, I can't wait for the next one.

I loved this book! What a great way to show the strength of the heroine while still maintaining the protective and alpha nature of the hero, even though he is the victim. Susan Stoker did an AMAZING job of showing the emotions for both characters, maintaining the suspense, and (as always) giving us the heat and love that we have come to love with her characters! Not only is it a great book, but it is a great book in a great series! I am anxiously awaiting all of her planned releases! She has become one of my automatic buy authors as I can't get enough of her books!

I have been waiting for Hayden's story we got glimpse of her life in past books and my heart always went out to her. Know she gets her turn (eekkkk) Hayden is in law enforcement but she is always seen as one of the guys. Until Boone came along that is. Begin Accused of a Domestic disturbance . Hayden has to save the man she is quickly falling for while tries to show Hayden and everyone around her just how much of a women she really is.. this book is a definite two thumbs up ..

Hayden & Boone! Two thumbs up! I can't even describe adequately how this one made me feel, but let's just go w/ HAPPY! Hayden is super smart, sassy, and TOUGH, and she's pushed her feminine side so far down that the 'tough' part is all her friends & co-workers see. Boone sees past all that, and the way he helps her to open up & discover that part of herself is truly a beautiful thing. And the way they are both so protective of each other... LOVE IT! : )

Hayden is one of the guys but not one has seen her for who she really is, a woman with wants and dreams of having her own happily ever after. Tough to do when you are a woman in a man's world and when you were raised that way as well. Boone is a cowboy who pissed off the wrong woman. He is mild mannered and handsome but when his ex accuses him of something he didn't do, it takes Hayden's keen eye to help him out of a jam.Maybe, just maybe Hayden can get her man and a happily ever after if someone doesn't come along to ruin it.
